Measurement tools

General

Measurement tools allow you to do a simple analysis of the data. The tools include measurements of distance and area; in 3D view, you can also check the coordinates of a single point. The measurements can be added as markers or exported in DXF/GeoJSON/shp format to be used in different software. If the possibility to edit coordinates has been activated on your account, you can also type in the wanted coordinates for the measurement.

Draw line

You can measure the distance between two points (in 3D) or along the drawn line (map).

In 3D, activate the tool from the toolbar upright, choose two points by clicking and the distance between the points is shown.

In the map, activate the tool from the Measurement tools menu. Click through the wanted route, and end line with a double-click of shift + click. The length of the polyline and its intersections are shown on the map.

If you want to export the measurements as areas, use Draw area or Draw circle instead.

Area

In the map view, you can measure areas in different shapes. Use area (irregular shapes), circle, or rectangle to measure the area.

You can edit and move the shapes after you deactivate the tool and select the wanted measurement on the map. Delete the shapes from the panel by clicking the trash icon or export them one by one or all together.

Draw a rectangular while holding Ctrl down.

You can pick buildings as measurements from the map while the Draw area tool is active by holding Alt/Opt down. Click a building on the map and it will be selected.

Note! Building picking works only if you have LIGHT or DARK base map active and you have zoomed in

Free drawing tool

In the map view, you can draw lines and shapes. Just choose a color and the brush size and start drawing.

The measurements of your drawings will appear on the right-side panel. From the panel, you can create a marker from a measurement, export measurements as DXF files, or delete them by clicking the trash bin.

You can edit drawings after you deselect the drawing tool and click the drawing on the map. You can move the whole drawing by dragging it with the mouse.

You can also move one point by dragging from the red points. Add new red points from the black midpoints with Shift+Click or delete points with Ctrl+Click.

Icon tool

In the map view, you can add an icon of your choosing. Just select a color and define the icon size and place it on the map by cliking.

The added icons will appear on the right-side panel. From the panel, you can delete the icons by clicking the trash bin. You can also delete all or specific markers on the panel from the menu button.

Text tool

In the map view, you can write and add a text. Just select a color and define the text size and place it on the map by cliking.

The added texts will appear on the right-side panel. From the panel, you can delete the texts by clicking the trash bin. You can also delete all or specific markers on the panel from the menu button.

Edit coordinates

This feature isn't active on your account by default. If you are interested in editing coordinates please contact support

Create measurements using exact coordinates by adding a point, line or area on the map and select the Edit coordinates action. Copy & paste the wanted coordinates and the drawing immediately moves to the correct location! Remember to save the changes if you want to add the measurement as a marker for example.

Save measurements

This feature isn't active on your account by default. If you are interested in saving measurements please contact support

You can save the measurements and markings added with the Measurement tools for future use. Click on the menu button from the right-side Measurements panel and select Save measurements. Give a name for the group of measurements in the Label field and click Save.

To view, edit, delete and add Saved measurements the user needs permission to Saved measurements.

If you have saved measurements you can view & edit them by opening the Measurements panel from the right-side toolbar and selecting the wanted measurements from the drop-down menu. You can delete the saved measurements from the panel's menu button with the Delete group option.

Import measurements

Import measurements as DXF, GeoJSON or shp files from the import tool. Click Import and choose a file. You can also choose to import lines directly as areas from the slider. If you are importing files including attributes these will be visible in the measurement details. You can view them by clicking the Attributes icon.

Show Point Info

Check the coordinates of a specific point within the 3D model. Open the point tool and click the on point you want to examine.
A new window will pop up with the coordinates of the point. Clicking on more points adds their information to the window.
In the top right corner of the Point Info window is a menu button. When you click the menu it offers more options:
- Export DXF - automatically exports the selected points to a .dxf file
- Delete all - removes all measurements from the list
- Delete points - removes the points from the list
- Select coordinate system - choose in which coordinate system to show the coordinates (only available for organisations with datasets in different coordinate systems)
